Overview
Our lip balm contains soy wax, candelilla wax, natural beeswax, capric/capryllic triglycerides, hemp oil, castor oil, olive oil, meadowfoam oil, shea butter and vitamin E. Candelilla wax is the exudate found on the leaves of a small scrub native to Mexico and the southwest. Beeswax is a natural secretion of honey bees. Our cosmetic beeswax is filtered to remove any impurities. This beeswax has a mild, sweet aroma. The color may vary from white to off-white. It lends emollient, softening properties to our lip balm and works as a humectant.
Our imported hemp seed oil is pressed from the finest quality seeds available. Hemp seed oil contains the lowest amount of saturated fatty acids and a high amount of the polyunsaturated essential fatty acids, linoleic and linolenic acids. It is a key nutritive ingredient in anti-inflammatory skin care formulations. Hemp oil is said to aid in the healing of skin lesions, dry skin, and inflammations of the skin and joints. Its use is especially indicated in special formulations for dry, damaged or aging skin.
Castor oil is rich in fatty acids and is soothing and lubricating. It is a humectant that attracts moisture to the skin. Olive oil is high in oleic acid and is a good skin cell regenerator.
Olive oil attracts external moisture to the skin and still permits the skin to properly release sweat and shed dead skin cells.
Meadowfoam is an herbaceous winter annual plant native to the pacific northwest region of the United States. Meadowfoam oil was developed to replace sperm whale oil in the 1970s. Despite its high molecular weight, meadowfoam oil remains liquid at room temperature. The oil from the meadowfoam plant is recognized for its outstanding oxidative stability. Meadowfoam oil is said to moisturize the skin and hair better than most oils, and it helps prevent moisture loss. It is thought to help revitalize dry, cracked lips and keeps them moist longer. African healers have used shea butter for thousands of years as the ideal treatment for dry or aging skin. Its high content of non-saponifiable fatty acids gives it the ability to moisturize and retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter also has been reported to protect the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration.
